Operators extend suspension of Mexico flights to May 18

Tour operators have extended their suspension of flights to Mexico as the Foreign Office continues to advise against all but essential travel to the country.

Thomson, First Choice and Thomas Cook have taken the decision to cancel all outbound flights to Cancun and Cozumel up to and including May 18.

The last remaining Thomson and First Choice customers in Mexico were due to return to the UK on May 11.

Thomas Cook holidaymakers due to travel to Cancun between May 19 and 22 will be able to amend their holiday free of charge. These customers should call 0870 607 5086.

Thomson and First Choice customers booked to travel up to May 18 can also change their holiday for free or receive a full refund.

Life is getting back to normal in Mexico as most schools reopened on Monday. At least 61 people have been killed by the disease around the world, and the World Health Organization has confirmed about 4,800 cases.

This week Cuba, Thailand and Finland have reported their first cases of the virus.
