Officials deny claims of rebel drone attack on Dubai airport

The United Arab Emirates has denied reports that Dubai airport had come under attack by rebels from Yemen using drones.

The Iran-backed group claimed on Monday that a “Samad-3 drone” had hit the world’s third busiest airport, successfully disrupting air traffic “for some time”.

However, the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority “denied Houthi media claims on the Dubai International airport, affirming that the UAE air traffic operates business as usual,” the authority said in a statement.

Several passengers at Dubai airport also denied the disruption shortly after the news broke, sharing videos on Twitter from within the terminal buildings.

Houthi-run media said earlier that a Sammad-3 drone had targeted the airport, but did not provide any evidence and there were no reports of damage or casualties.
