Travel agent Rita Hunter is due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court this morning charged with nine new counts of fraud.

The alleged fraud relates to flights and accommodation booked for clients which were not supplied or paid for.

Hunter was arrested on Tuesday and subsequently charged with nine counts of fraud by false representation relating to a number of incidents that occurred between 2016 and 2018.

A spokeswoman from Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm that following an investigation launched in partnership with Action Fraud, a 63-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with nine counts of fraud by false representation relating to a number of incidents that occurred between 2016 – 2018.

“Ms Rita Hunter, 63, of Sankey Road, Liverpool, has been remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court at a later date.”

Hunter had been operating as a sole trader under the name Platinum Travel, but has since closed the business.

Her previous firm, Hunters Travel, went bankrupt last year.
