Three quarters of dog owners are concerned about holidaying without their pets, new research by Haven reveals.
They worry that they will not be happy (29%) or will not be looked after properly (29%).
One in four of the 2,000 people polled said they find going on holiday with their pets stressful due to limited pet-friendly accommodation options (25%), pet surcharges abroad (19%) and not wanting the hassle of documentation or vaccinations (19%).
Haven, which has 33 holiday parks accepting dogs, has appointed two spaniels to act as ‘directors of walkies’ to ensure dogs are catered for.
They will be responsible for reporting on canine benefits, as well as providing recommendations for new product elements to allow the domestic operator build on its dog friendly offering.
Haven accepts more than one dog per family. The price paid to house dogs during the break also includes a deep cleaning service to ensure guests make the most of their time away without worrying about the clean-up operation on departure.
Parks that do not accommodate pets include Burnham-On-Sea, Riviere Sands and Lydstep Beach.
Prices for a four-night break start at £90 based on a family of up to four sharing a standard two-bedroom caravan at The Orchards, Essex on March 18, 2019.
