Barrhead Travel raises £1,300 in Power to the Pedal challenge

Eighteen members of staff at Barrhead Travel’s city centre store in Glasgow took it in turns to raise money for the agency’s chosen overseas charity with a sponsored exercise bike challenge.

The day-long ‘Power to the Pedal’ event saw each colleague spend 23 minutes pedalling on a static bike in the shop window.

They raised £1,300 during the day which will help them get closer to the target of £23,000 for 2018, which will go to Just A Drop.

Other branches in the Scottish agency chain have also been fundraising with special events and sponsored activities for Just a Drop, which brings safe water, sanitation and hygiene projects to communities around the world.

The funds will support the Buwambo Health Centre in Uganda.

Agents in the Glasgow city centre store also took part in health and fitness consultations during the fundraising day, with staff from a nearby gym.

The Gym Glasgow loaned the bike for the fundraiser, and Barrhead staff learned about nutrition and wellness during the drop-in sessions at the agency.

Barrhead Travel also arranged for staff to have a discount for membership at the gym.
