Tim Buckman has been promoted to managing director of transfer specialist Resorthoppa, part of the Lowcost Travel Group.
Buckman joined the group in September 2008 as trade sales director, a role he will retain after his promotion. His previous positions in the industry include head of sales at Silverjet, the former business-class-only no-frills airline, and leisure sales manager at Cathay Pacific Airways.
Commenting on his appointment and plans for Resorthoppa, Buckman confirmed that as well as operating in Germany and Spain, the company was eyeing more than a dozen potential markets, including France, Italy, Russia and the Netherlands.
“We have a fantastic business and have achieved good results in the past year. Our record volumes are providing us with great economies of scale that enable us to provide our services at the best price in the market,” said Buckman.
“I’m confident about our future: we are adding more product to expand our network, investing in greater technology and building up our operational, technical and commercial teams to shape us for future growth,” he added.
Lowcost Travel Group chief executive Paul Evans said: “Tim has achieved a great deal in his short time at the company and has been central to our success in the past 12 months, a year in which we have experienced 100% growth in revenue.”
