ABTA urges members to use ‘Travel Buddy’ information service

ABTA is urging agents and operators to sign up to its free information service Travel Buddy.

ABTA and the Foreign Office (FCO) have developed the system, which sends clients an email before travelling, including the FCO’s ‘Know Before You Go’ advice and destination information.

It also includes a reminder to buy travel insurance, and space for the ABTA member’s own information.

In an emergency, the FCO will provide free text messages to help locate customers and provide them with information and advice.

ABTA head of destination strategy and services Nicola White said: “We have had strong interest from the larger operators but we are urging more operators and agents to sign up.

“When something is free people think there is a catch, but this is all funded by the FCO.”
