Swords Travel eyes second store after new recruits

Swords Travel is on the lookout for a new high street store, having recruited two new agents to its team.

The Wimbledon agency, which was named Travel Trust Association member of the year at The Travel Network Group’s conference in Budapest on Saturday, is eyeing up retail spaces in southwest London and Surrey.

It has recently hired Sarah Reeves, who has experience with Kuoni, Reigate Travel and Symphony Travel. She splits her time between homeworking and the Wimbledon agency.

Next month, Francesca Stevenson will join as a homeworker for Swords Travel from Thomas Cook.

“She lives in Banstead and is well known in the local community in Surrey,” said Mark Swords, joint owner and director with husband Stuart Swords.

They said the business is on track to top £1 million in sales in its third year, having turned over £250,000 worth of sales in year one, then £650,000 in its second year.

The agency, which sees customers by appointment, specialises in luxury, bespoke high-end holidays.

“We are doing once-in-a-lifetime trips, for example, to celebrate 70th birthdays and major anniversaries,” said Mark.
