Lowcost Travel Group appoints new commercial director

Newly appointed commercial director of the Lowcost Travel Group Patricia Rossello-Palmer is to focus on selling the bed bank’s new long-haul product this year.

Rossello-Palmer said Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt and Turkey were the top destinations for this year so far, but added she would be looking to drive sales of city breaks and long-haul destinations. The bed bank has recently added properties in Thailand, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, South Africa and the US.

She said: “Lowcost Travel Group doesn’t mean cheap prices or distressed stock, it means good value for money. We have strengthened our city-break programme and long haul, and sales are already up 98% on this time last year.”

Rossello-Palmer founded Majorca specialist Medinland in 1998, which was bought out in 2004 by Travelcare, part of The Co-operative Travel Group. She then went on to set up transfers provider Resorthoppa, which was sold to the Low Cost Travel Group last year.

Lowcostbeds sales director Tim Buckman said: “Patricia’s vast experience in the market and her connections overseas make her negotiation skills unique, allowing her to buy at the best rates and secure the most amazing contracts with key hotels and transfer suppliers.”
