Business during the seasonally quiet period of the year has been in line with expectations, according to UK-based theme park and attractions group Merlin Entertainments.
In a trading update to coincide with the company’s annual meeting, Merlin said it had made “good strategic progress” to date, with the opening of seven new Midway attractions, including two new Peppa Pig World of Play sites in Dallas and Michigan.
“We have also opened an additional 244 accommodation rooms comprising the 142 room Castle Hotel at Legoland Billund Resort and 102 ‘Stargazing Pods’ at Alton Towers Resort,” the firm said.
“The 128-room Magic Hotel at Gardaland Resort is scheduled to open later this month.”
The company completed the disposal of two Australian ski resorts, for A$174 million last month.
Details of its ‘digital guest journey’ strategy is to be given via a webinar for investors and analysts on May 17.
Merlin is due to report 2019 interim results on August 1.
