Travelbag opens agency in centre of Chester

Long-haul tailormade specialist Travelbag has opened its seventh UK travel agency – with plans for the eighth to open in early summer.

The latest opening is in Chester, Cheshire, and the next one will be in London.

Located on Bridge Street, the Chester shop is staffed by six travel consultants and manager Harrison Steven.

Between them, they have visited almost 50 countries around the world, and have more than 60 years of experience in selling travel.

A special opening event will be held over the weekend of June 1-2, offering visitors the chance to win Travelbag goodies and prizes, including a holiday for two to Australia.

Bookings made in the shop by June 2 will qualify for a special £100 discount.

Lesley Rollo, Travelbag managing director, said: “It is Travelbag’s 40th anniversary this year, and it feels fitting that we’re taking the travel expertise and long-haul knowledge we’ve built up over that time to a new high street as part of our birthday celebrations.

“We’re very confident that the residents of Chester and beyond will love coming in to speak about their holiday ideas with our experienced team, and to be inspired by the range of destinations and types of holidays we sell and excited by the packages we can book for them.”

Travelbag booking statistics show that Thailand was the most popular holiday choice for Chester residents in 2018, accounting for more than quarter of all of the bookings made.

It is followed by the US (18%), the Caribbean (16%), Australia (12%) and South Africa (9%) with cruises accounting for about 6% of bookings.
