TWOYEARSafter becoming involved in the Leadership Challenge, BAA chief executive Sir John Egan said a lot of work still needs to be done within the company to ensure equality amongst employees at all levels.
Speaking at the launch of the Leadership Challenge progress report, Sir John said: “Our employment of people from ethnic minorities is higher than the national average, but does not yet fully reflect the local labour market. We are not fully developing employees from all backgrounds at all levels in the company.”
Since joining the scheme, BAAhas completely revised its equal opportunities policy.
It has created an action plan for change and on-going improvements in the monitoring and measuring of equal opportunities. “We do recognise the importance of racial equality and I believe we will get there, which is good for our workers, for our communities and for our business,” said Sir John.
