The Travel Network Group has held its first training event for new recruits.
More than 17 independent agents attended the two-day programme at the group’s head office in Woking.
Attendees included those who are new to travel and agents returning to the industry after spending time away.
Training modules included selling techniques; how to sell cruise; understanding and undertaking marketing and social media; and a workshop that looked at the offerings of the group’s business partners in detail.
The second day focused on training from the Institute of Customer Service, the importance of dynamic packaging and an exercise involving them writing a press release about their new role in travel.
Lisa Henning, chief operating officer, helped agents put together their own development plans, set personal goals and appoint a ‘buddy’.
Henning said: “The feedback from those who attended demonstrates how much they value training and I truly believe we have a great generation of travel agents coming through, and it’s our responsibility to help them remain in the industry.”
The new recruits training programme was announced at The Travel Network Group’s ‘Beyond the Expected’ conference in Budapest in late March, as part of the launch of its new Training Services Academy.
