Big Bus Tours expands portfolio with Berlin

Big Bus Tours will start open-top sightseeing tours in Berlin this summer – its first German location.

Starting on July 11, Berlin will be the 23rd city in the company’s global portfolio and it is the fourth new destination in the past year.

The Big Bus Berlin tour will have 20 stops at landmarks such as the Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, Holocaust Memorial, Ku’Damm, Postdamer Platz, TV Tower and Gendarmenmarkt.

Visitors hear about Berlin’s history via recorded commentary, available in eight languages or live commentary in English.

There will also be Big Bus Tour guides taking  90-minute walking tours from the Brandenburg Gate to Checkpoint Charlie with highlights including the Holocaust Memorial, Hitler’s Bunker and stories of the divided Berlin.

Alex Payne, chief executive of Big Bus Tours, said: “Following our entry into Los Angeles in March this year and the launch of our operations in Singapore and Dublin last summer, we have continued to explore the world’s greatest cities for new opportunities.

“As one of Europe’s truly great capital cities, Berlin is an important complement to our European portfolio.

“By adding new cities to our portfolio, we constantly strive to keep Big Bus Tours as the market leader for consumers bookable through the trade.”

The announcement follows the launch of the company’s first Partner Booking Platform.

The website provides access to trade partners, including travel agents, to book Big Bus Tours and other attraction products.
