Agencies cash in on trips to world’s biggest Primark store

The Maldives, the Seychelles, the Caribbean.

Travel agents sell holidays to exotic locations around the world day in, day out.

But some agencies, and customers, are looking a little closer to home for their  holiday fix.

Central England Co-op Travel in Scunthorpe is among a number of agencies offering day trips to the world’s biggest Primark store in Birmingham.

The 161,000 sq ft store boasts a Disney-themed cafe, beauty studio, three food venues and Hogwarts Wizarding section.

The branch has organised two trips this summer which have both sold out and one is planned for Christmas time. Tickets cost £20 per person.

Thorne Travel Experience, in Ardrossan, North Ayrshire, has planned an overnight shopping trip in November, and Woods Travel, in Bognor Regis has organised a trip at £25 per ticket in September.

The agencies have partnered with Yorkshire-based CAB Executive Travel coach company to run the trips.

Jodie Lewis, Central England Co-op Travel Scunthorpe manager, said: “We are increasingly seeing customers coming into our branches with a range of different ideas and suggestions in a bid to enjoy a different kind of experience – whether it is big holiday or a day trip.

“The day trip to Birmingham has come on the back of customer demand after the launch of the world’s largest Primark in the city made global headlines.”
