Tour operator Thomson has launched a four point ‘ash guarantee’ to give customers peace of mind to book as the flight bans due to the Icelandic ash cloud continued this week.
The travel giant said its new guarantee was applicable as of tomorrow (May 18) and applied to both package and flight-only deals for this summer.
The four elements to the guarantee were:
· “Thomson will make sure customers are looked after by any one of our 18,000 staff
· Thomson will get customers home, or out on holiday as quickly as possible
· Thomson will pay for any costs if customers have to stay on overseas (within reason) so customers don’t have to claim anything back
· In the unlikely event that a holiday is cancelled due to the ash, Thomson will help customers affected find another great deal on a later holiday, or of course, offer a full refund.”
In a statement Thomson said: “The ‘Ash Guarantee’ further reiterates the benefit of booking with an ATOL bonded package tour operator, such as Thomson, which offers customers looking to travel during these times complete assurance that should the worst happen, that they are in the best hands.”
Futher closures of UK airspace were ordered on Sunday and Monday as the Eyjafjallajokull volcano continued to erupt and ash was blown towards the UK.
Weather forecasters said disruption was likely to continue until Tuesday when the wind was due to change direction pushing the ash cloud north and east.
