More than 90% of British travellers are now more nervous about booking a holiday through a less well-known travel firm in the wake of recent collapses.
Consumers are increasingly valuing large companies with well-established brands, according to a TripAdvisor survey of 2,664 online site users on August 19.
The research comes in the wake of the collapse of Kiss Flights, the 13th travel firm to collapse this year, following other high-profile collapses including Goldtrail Holidays, Sun4U and Monster Travel.
A TripAdvisor spokeswoman said: “With so many holidaymakers uncertain about their rights regarding compensation and repatriation it’s perhaps not surprising that 91% of Brits are now thinking twice before choosing a travel firm they have not heard of.
“This lack of confidence could see the larger, better-known travel firms benefiting as travellers opt to stick with what they know and shun purely price-driven options.”
