Holidaysplease homeworkers reunite customers with lost valuables

A group of Holidaysplease homeworkers has reunited a couple with their wedding and engagement rings after they were left in a hotel safety deposit box.

Thatcham-based agents Alison and Allan Ashford booked the couple to stay in the Maritim Hotel in Es Cana, Ibiza but the customers left the jewellery behind when checking out.

The agents contacted Jet2holidays and the hotel, but claimed neither would take responsibility to send the valuables back to the customers.

Ashford said: “I phoned the hotel and said that we can arrange a courier, but they wouldn’t take responsibility for the jewellery to be sent out. Jet2 said they wouldn’t deal with it as it’s not in their remit.”

Ashford approached the Holidaysplease internal homeworker forum to ask if anyone could help.

Homeworker Moira Carbis, who is based in Serbia, but sells to the UK market, answered the call as her mother was staying in Ibiza near the resort and collected the valuables to return them to the customers.

Carbis said: “This really highlights the benefits of such a friendly and well-connected team and we can really on each other for help. It’s a really good team to work with, and despite being a homeworker, you never feel alone.”

Travel Weekly has approached Jet2holidays for comment.
