Hays moved to acquire the leases for Thomas Cook’s entire retail estate in the wake of the travel giant’s failure last month.
Retail director Jane Schumm said: “We are very excited to have opened more than 400 of the 555 shops in just three weeks.
“I am so proud of the teams at head office who have all pulled together to make this happen. Getting the staff members back into their shops has been really heart-warming and I believe it has been a real success so far.”
Last week, the government’s Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy committee heard the independent agency paid £6 million for the licenses to occupy for former Cook shops.
MPs heard that the Official Receiver was satisfied that the Hays Travel deal was the best outcome for creditors.
