The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority has launched a strategic partnership with neighbouring islands to promote holidays to the region.
The authority is marketing packages that allow holidaymakers to island hop between Mauritius, the Seychelles, Madagascar, Reunion and Rodrigues, rather than promoting them as separate, competing destinations.
The Vanilla Island concept will encourage visitors to enjoy the islands’ different experiences, said MTPA director Karl Mootoosamy.
Meanwhile, a travel agent fact pact to Mauritius was launched at WTM yesterday showing the variety of activities on offer on the island.
Mauritius has enjoyed a 6.5% increase in visitor arrivals in 2010 on the previous year to date, with a growth of 2% in UK visitor arrivals.
