A 36,500 square metre luxury beach club is to open next spring on Saadivat Island in Abu Dhabi.
The Monte-Carlo Beach Club Saadiyat Island will be the first of its kind on the island.
The property, due to open in March, is to be managed by Monte-Carlo SBM. Located between two luxury beach resorts, visitors will have access to Saadiyat beach and the Saadiyat Beach Golf Club.
Saadiyat Island will also house the Zayed National Museum, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Museum, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, a performing arts centre and maritime museum, and Desert Islands, claimed to be one of the world’s largest environmentally sustainable tourism destinations.
Abu Dhabi-based Tourism Development & Investment Company is developing the beach club and other projects.
The new property is designed to “bring the history and style of glamorous Monte Carlo, with its rich heritage of culture, sport and tourism” to Saadiyat, according to CEO Lee Tabler.
“TDIC is developing Saadiyat Island as an unrivalled destination for culture and a contemporary urban lifestyle, and the Monte-Carlo SBM brand complements these aspirations perfectly,” he added.
“By expanding the number of world renowned premium brands and partners on this beautiful natural island, including St. Regis, Mandarin Oriental, Park Hyatt and now Monte Carlo SBM, TDIC is looking to provide unforgettable experiences and an incomparable lifestyle choice for every resident or visitor to Saadiyat Island.”
Bernard Lambert, CEO of SBM, the parent company of Monte-Carlo SBM Group, added: “I am delighted that TDIC and SBM have entered into this first phase of what we are sure will be a long and successful partnership between our companies.
“TDIC’s focus and passion in developing a social, cultural and tourist infrastructure here in Abu Dhabi echoes SBM’s own development of Monte Carlo almost 150 years ago.”
TDIC’s developments are part of a plan by Abu Dhabi to attract 2.3 million hotel guests by the end of 2012.
