Amadeus River Cruises to build new ship for 2021

Amadeus River Cruises will launch a new ship in spring 2021.

The 170-passenger Amadeus Cara will be the cruise line’s 17th ship and will serve “great demand” for the company’s cruises, according to the line’s managing director and founder,  Dr Wolfgang Lüftner.

The ship will feature 70 17.5 sq m and 12 26.4 sq m Amadeus suites. All cabins have a bathroom, flatscreen TV, telephone and air conditioning.

A fitness area, sun deck with shaded seating areas, a giant chess set and a bar restaurant area will also be available on board.

The maiden voyage will be a roundtrip eight-day Danube Rhapsody cruise from Passau, Germany, at the end of April.

For the remainder of the season, the ship will be travelling on the Danube to the Black Sea as well as between Amsterdam and Basel on the Rhine.

Prices for the Three Rivers Cruise, departing from Nuremberg, Germany, on September 2, 2021, start from £1,699. Ports of call include Bamberg, Oberwesel and Cologne, all Germany.

The three-night Interlude on the Danube itinerary, departing from Passau on August 16, 2021, leads in from £499.

Cara’s sister ship 168-passenger ship Amadeus Imperial (pictured) will launch in April this year.

Lüftner said: “The new ship in 2021 will not only serve as much needed extra capacity increase for the great demand for our high quality river cruises, but is also a promise to our passengers that we will continue to offer one of the most modern fleets in the five-star segment.”
