Dubai International Airport saw February passenger numbers top 3.83 million, an increase of 5.2% over the same month last year.
The rise came despite a decline of 28,395 passengers recorded on African routes as traffic was affected by political unrest in Tunisia, Egypt and Bahrain. Passenger totals on Middle Eastern routes dropped 33,036.
The largest increases in passenger numbers in February were recorded on routes to and from other Gulf states, (up 111,978), the Indian subcontinent (up 56,319) and Western Europe (up 30,999).
Dubai Airports chief executive Paul Griffiths said: “Dubai International continues to achieve consistent growth even during a period of global turbulence which is affecting the travel plans of millions of people.
“We are pleased that Dubai is able to provide a level of consistent service during this time of uncertainty.”
