Ticket cheats deserve the Eurostar fines

Back in July I wrote to your Letters page commenting on the reduced commission to agents from Eurostar.

In the letter I suggested that instead of less commission why not find a way of catching the passengers who buy cheap-day return tickets each end for one ways and longer stays.

I also said my agency will not book these tickets and try and make people aware of the implications if caught.

Unfortunately my letter was not published which was why I was very pleased to see the topic mentioned on BBC Watchdog on September 9 by Anne Robinson who appeared to sympathise with two offenders who had been caught by Eurotunnel.

It is about time something is done and applaud Eurotunnel for their actions but I also hope that agents will be given their normal commission now fares are back to a decent level due to loss of duty-free sales revenue.
