Teletext to decide on five new shop locations

Teletext Holidays hopes to decide on the location of its next five shops inside Tesco stores by the end of this month.

The company currently has two shops in Tesco stores in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, and Pitsea in Essex, and hopes to have seven shops out of a total of 12 open by the end of this year.

Managing director Victoria Sanders will be looking at potential locations for at least five new shops over the next few weeks. These are likely to be in the Midlands or north east of England.

“We are looking at where our online customers are now and where there are Tesco shops. We want to open some of the shops quite quickly but it will depend on when we can get them fitted out,” she said.

Both Chesterfield and Pitsea shops have met the company’s expectations, she said, and tend to focus on price-led deals.

“It was a massive experiment for us to put Teletext on the high street. We don’t have window cards but we are about value offers and last-minute deals. We are not going to move away from what Teletext has built its reputation on,” she added.
