Sunvil staff embark on fundraising challenge in colleague’s memory

Sunvil staff have embarked on a fundraising challenge in memory of their colleague Ismet Emin who died after contracting coronavirus.

The operator’s financial controller, known to his industry colleagues as Issy, died on April 16. He was in his early 50s.

Following his death, the team at Sunvil has set itself the ‘ultimate island hop challenge’.

Throughout May the team plans to cover a distance of 3,236km, the distance between each of the Greek islands featured in Sunvil’s programme, starting in Corfu and ending in Thassos.

The challenge has already raised £670 for Help For Heroes. Issy (pictured, far left) and his family were passionate supporters of the charity, having lost loved ones in conflict.

Rachel Jelley, sales and marketing manager, said: “The Sunvil team wanted to do something in remembrance of Issy and to fundraise for a charity that meant a lot to him. He was such a wonderful, spirited individual and his passing has left a large hole in our hearts.”

Managing director Chris Wright kicked us off the challenge on May 1 with a 5km run, with other colleagues hitting the road on their bikes.

Others will be skipping, stepping and walking to complete the challenge.
