The impact of high speed rail on corporate travel is to be debated at a Guild of Travel Management Companies-hosted conference session. The event is taking place as part of Business Travel Market at the ExCel Centre in London on June 22.
Panellists lined up include HRG industry and fare distribution director Tony Berry, Eurostar commercial director Nick Mercer and Mircosoft EMEA travel category manager Sabah Kahoul. GTMC chief executive Anne Godfrey is to moderate the debate.
The session is expected to focus on the potential that the planned HS2 high speed line between London and Birmingham and potentially beyond to Scotland can bring to business travellers and distribution in the rail sector.
Godfrey said: “I expect there to be a frank and robust discussion of all the issues surrounding rail travel in the UK and beyond including why the current rail network, stations and ancillary services still fall so short of the business traveller’s expectations.”
