Canada’s Air Transat plans to resume UK flights on July 23 with services from Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow.
Air Transat announced the resumption date and unveiled a Traveller Care programme of health measures, including wearing face masks.
The carrier noted the restart remains subject to travel restrictions.
It aims to operate to Toronto from London Gatwick three times a week, and from Manchester and Glasgow twice a week each.
Air Transat will also resume flights from Toronto to Athens, Porto and Rome and will subsequently add services from Montreal to Athens, Lisbon, Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, Nantes, Marseille and Toulouse.
Annick Guérard, Air Transat chief operating officer, said: “We will gradually operate a flight schedule with 23 international routes to Europe, the South and the US in addition to a domestic flight schedule.
“To address the concerns caused by Covid-19 and to prioritise the safety of customers and employees, we will be implementing new health measures, in compliance with the recommendations and requirements of regulatory authorities.”
At the airport, passengers will be asked health-related questions, and on board passengers and crew will be required to wear face coverings and the inflight service be revised to reduce handling and contact.
The carrier said it may enhance its schedule for September and October depending on demand.
It is offering passengers who booked before March 4 a chance to change travel dates, destination or package at no charge up to seven days before departure.
Those who prefer to cancel will be offered a travel credit valid for 24 months.
Customers who booked on or after March 4 can make the same changes at no charge up to 24 hours before departure, but if they cancel will be offered a travel credit valid for only 12 months.
Services to Amsterdam, Basel-Mulhouse, Barcelona, Brussels, Copenhagen, Dublin, Faro, Madrid, Malaga, Nice, Prague, Venice and Zagreb remain suspended, as do all direct flights to Europe from Vancouver and Quebec City.
