Warning of disruption as Greece strikes loom

A warning has been issued of “significant disruption” to flights due to a threatened strike by Greek air traffic controllers starting this week.

Walk-outs are planned for Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, effectively crippling services for the entire weekend. The industrial action by the Greek air traffic controllers union is due to start at 2pm local time on Thursday and run until 6pm, then from 3am on Saturday until 3am on Monday morning.

EasyJet said: “There is no clear certainty on the expected strength of the strike action. However, if the action goes ahead we expect this to cause significant disruption to our services and strongly advise passengers travelling to and from Greek airports to keep checking our website for updates.”

If flights have to be cancelled the details will be published on the airline’s website from Wednesday.
