Keycamp hits out at agents for sales drop

KEYCAMP Holidays managing director Simon Tobin has accused travel agents of failing to exploit growth in the camping market after reporting sales through the trade down by 4%.

Tobin said the figures bucked the trend in the operator’s bookings where volumes are up 8%. Speaking at the launch of a Preview 2000 brochure, he said: “It is disappointing that in a growing camping market, only 25% of bookings are made by agents.”

He said Keycamp, which attracts 50% of its bookings through the trade, runs joint-marketing promotions and educationals for agents.

Tobin said many prices had been frozen in the Preview brochure. Prices start at £198 for two adults and up to four children spending 12 nights in a tent in Normandy.
