The Portuguese islands of Madeira and the Azores have been exempted from quarantine restrictions for arrivals into Scotland.
Scotland had imposed 14-day self-isolation on arrivals from the whole of Portugal last month.
The latest change, confirmed by the Foreign Office today, brings Scotland into line with the rest of the UK – which has imposed quarantine on arrivals from Portugal, except for those arriving from the two archipelagos, which operate autonomously from mainland Portugal.
Changes will come into effect at 4am on Saturday, October 3.
Yesterday, Turkey and Poland were among the latest destinations to be removed from the UK government’s ‘safe lists’ meaning those arriving in the UK from the countries will also face a 14-day self-isolation.
