Train 2 Travel recruits first business development manager

Claire Hills is to join travel industry training and apprenticeship firm Train 2 Travel after leaving tour operator Gold Medal.

Hills worked for the trade-only long-haul specialist for 12 years, and it due to start her new role as business development manager on November 9.

She has been employed to grow the business predominantly in the south, and will be approaching organisations to discuss opportunities on how Train 2 Travel can assist them with apprenticeships and training.

Director Michelle Van Sprang, who set up Train 2 Travel having previously worked for the Advantage Travel Partnership, said: “Claire is well respected within the industry, we know she will complement Train 2 Travel and help us grow the business. We will be investing in Claire and upskilling her through our programmes.”

Train 2 Travel now has near to 30 learners ‘on plan’, with a further 20 due to start throughout November and December. The firm hopes the addition of Hills will help it grow those numbers.

The firm has taken on two apprentices itself since its launch in June, who will be ‘moulded’ into assessors. Two other assessors have been recruited since its launch.

Van Sprang said Train 2 Travel may look to recruit for a BDM for the north following Hills’ appointment, if the business hits its targets.
