Black Friday bookings show ‘customer confidence has returned’

Black Friday bookings are claimed to have more than doubled at homeworking travel firm Not Just Travel compared to the same deals period last year.

The average spend on the price of a holiday compared to Black Friday in 2019 was up by £1,096 per booking.

Half (51%) of the bookings taken were for summer 2021 holidays, with winter 2020-21 accounting for 31%, 9% for next winter and a further 9% for summer 2022.

Argentina, Lapland and Indonesia were among the destinations booked.

Company co-founders Paul Harrison and Steve Witt said: “We believe our customers are booking bigger, better, blow out trips for 2021 and 2022 because they have missed holidays this year.

“Our top destinations were luxurious places like Dubai, the Maldives, Mauritius and Bali, and we also saw a lot of bookings for farther flung adventures too, including  Alaska and the Rocky Mountains, Japan, Argentina and Indonesia.

“It shows, we believe, that people want adventures, they have missed travel and are determined to make 2021 more fun than 2020.

“Customer confidence seems to have really returned with the continued good news of the positive Covid-19 vaccine trials hitting the headlines – it’s a positive boost and one the travel industry needs.”
