Clipper Cruises to be sold in UK by Kuoni

KUONI is to sell Clipper Cruise Lines voyages in the UKfollowing its acquisition of US operator Intrav, which owns the cruiseline.

Soft adventure specialist Clipper has not previously been sold through the UK trade.

Kuoni executive vice-president Peter Diethelm said a stand-alone Clipper brochure could be launched in February or March. However, its product will not be featured in Kuoni’s main Cruise and Stay brochure until the 2001 edition is published next summer.

“It could be that in between we will have a special offer on a cruise suitable for the UK,” Diethelm said. He explained that Clipper’s 2000 programme had been developed purely to attract its core US market.

The cruiseline has four ships with a capacity of between 100 and 200 passengers each.

Clipper Adventurer is carrying out cruises to destinations including Antarctica and the Amazon next year, while Clipper Odyssey will be based in Australia and the Far East.

Yorktown and Nantucket, will carry out domestic US itineraries.
