Fam trips to be won in Discovery programme


Agents participating in World Travel Market’s Discovery programme have the chance to win one of 25 familiarisation trips.



The offer is part of the organisers’ plans to make the show more fun and informative for agents.



Giving the agents a helping hand will be a team of young people called the Crew. They will meet and greet agents when they enter Earl’s Court and be on hand to help them throughout the day.



WTM marketing manager Sue Bertram said: “We put ourselves in the shoes of the travel agent.



“For many it is their first job after leaving school and World Travel Market is probably the first trade exhibition they have been to of that scale.



“It can be a bit awesome and mind blowing for first-time visitors to the show. Many agents do not realise there is an upstairs to the show or where to put their coat when they arrive.”



One of the nine members of the Crew – who are largely made up of part-time musicians, actors or models – will approach agents with the branded red Discovery badges when they arrive.



They will give them their ‘Cheque Books’ which contain different questions they have to answer on visiting the 28 exhibitors participating in the Discovery programme.



Agents who successfully complete the questions and post them in the boxes provided at the 28 stands will have the chance of winning one of the familiarisation trips detailed on the back of each cheque.



Seven exhibitors have been chosen from the four geographical regions featured at the event. Winners will be announced by December 4.



Free lunches will also be on offer to Discovery agents on Wednesday and Thursday.



The first 150 people to take up the invitation in the morning will be entertained as they take their lunch in the Central Feature Area.
