Travel Bureau boss tells Radio Four listeners about post-Brexit travel

Jeanne Lally, co-managing director of the Travel Bureau in Gosforth, appeared on Radio Four this morning (December 29) to advise listeners about post-Brexit travel rules.

She told business correspondent Katie Prescott on the Today programme that travellers to Europe need to check they have six months’ validity on their passport, as well as correct documentation such as Covid PCR tests.

“Most airlines and most destination countries have different rules and different time bands for PCR Covid testing so you need to speak to someone who understands what they are and helps you through all of the complex rules, booking conditions, refund policies and airline compliance – above all, to make sure safety is first,” she said.

She did not think Brexit or Covid would mean more delays at airports as airlines work hard to ensure punctuality.

“People are still travelling,” she told Prescott.

“We know there’s a lot of pent-up demand, we are getting inquiries.

“People are cautious. Until the vaccine is rolled out across Europe and globally, there is some reticence.

“We work at the sharp end and see travel to Europe and further afield on business and holiday travel.”

Listeners were also advised to buy travel insurance because Ehics will no longer be valid and there are restrictions on what products can be brought into the UK.
