Casa de Campo Resort & Villas in the Dominican Republic is offering PCR Covid testing in a private lounge, ensuring guests do not have to leave the grounds.
The move follows an announcement by the Dominican Republic government that it has extended its free health insurance plan to tourists until March 31, 2021.
The plan is offered to those arriving on commercial flights and staying at a local hotel. It covers all medical emergencies, including those caused in the event of an infection or exposure to Covid-19 while in the country.
The government health plan includes treatment and VIP access to Casa De Campo’s on-site hospital, the Central Romana Medical Center.
Covid tests can be arranged through the hotel’s concierge for $150 (about £110) per person but the cost will be fully covered by the government’s insurance scheme if the guest has Covid-related symptoms.
The test must be booked 48 hours in advance and results are emailed within one hour.
Casa de Campo has also launched its Casa Cares programme, with new equipment, staff training and a ‘touchless experience’ app.
With grounds spread across 7,000 acres, Casa de Campo offers amenities such as three golf courses, a shooting centre, hiking, fishing, water sports, an equestrian centre and marina.
