Africa specialist independent agent Tana Travel, which has been in business for 28 years, ceased trading on Friday September 28.
Tana Travel, which acted as both a travel agent and a tour operator, sold flight-inclusive trips to long haul destinations worldwide. Away Gay, which is also part of the company, has also stopped trading.
Abta has confirmed that customers who had booked through Tana Travel in its capacity as a travel agent will not be affected, and that 29 forward bookings will proceed as normal.
However, consumers who used Tana Travel as a tour operator will be affected, but CAA said it thought this would affect a handful of people.
Tana Travel, based in Stratford-upon-Avon, re-joined Aito Specialist Travel Agents last year after withdrawing in 2010 as part of cost saving measures.
Travel Weekly reported in 2011 that the company returned to the 130-strong agency group after feeling the downside of non-membership.
Tana’s managing director is Neil Basnett, a former chairman of Elite Travel Group.
