Egypts tourist hotspots continue to attract visitors

Business is as usual in main tourist areas of Upper Egypt despite political unrest affecting the capital of Cairo, a specialist operator claims.

Discover Egypt says the country is a top destination for winter sun breaks, including Nile cruises, due to discounted rates being offered by local suppliers.

The operator is offering half price deals for second travellers on seven-night Nile packages which start at £699 for the first person.

Commercial director Philip Breckner said: “Visitors to Upper Egypt, including Luxor, Aswan, Lake Nasser and Abu Simbel, are benefiting from extremely competitive prices as cruise companies, hoteliers, tour operators and airlines fight to win business back by offering extremely attractive prices – making Upper Egypt a top destination for those looking for winter sunshine and superb sights.”

He added: “Travellers that can see past the headlines will find a very peaceful holiday destination and will get the chance to visit some of the world’s most impressive ancient sights for a very reasonable budget.

“It is important that travellers and the trade support Egypt, which is reliant on tourism, especially given that most of the main tourist areas remain unaffected by the troubles.”
