Snow disruption compounded by strike in Germany

Flights from UK and other European airports face more disruption today due to snow and ice – the seventh day that winter weather has hit services.

EasyJet said airports across northern and central Europe as well as in the UK may experience some disruption due to the current conditions.

Some flights will be subject to delays and “potential cancellations”.

The bad weather situation for those flying to Germany is being compounded by a strike by security staff at Cologne and Dusseldorf airports.

Lufthansa cancelled flights this morning from Dusseldorf to Birmingham, Heathrow and Manchester airports.

A number of long-haul flights due into Heathrow today were also facing delays. Flight cancellations and delays were affecting Aberdeen airport.

Two Eurostar trains have been cancelled because of the weather while speed restrictions were adding 15 to 45 minutes to all journey times.
