Spear Travels has announced its eighth branch opening in the UK with a new store in Stokesley, North Yorkshire.
The independent agency has bought Derek Wills Travel Ltd, which has been in the town since 1985, after its founder and owner Derek Wills died in October 2012.
Denise Barclay has successfully managed the business for the past few years and will be retiring later this year.
She said: “Derek and the staff have worked hard to build up a successful agency over the past 27 years. Spear Travels is a very similar organisation so we are confident of future success for them. All current employees will remain in the branch and are excited to start working for Spear.”
Peter Cookson, managing director of Spear Travels, was delighted to announce the latest branch opening. He said: “Derek Wills Travel Ltd is an Advantage agent and has a great client database with many high-end bookings so will be a perfect fit for the company. We are very much looking forward to welcoming this new branch and their staff into the company.”
He added: “They currently do a large amount of rail business which we are keen to continue and develop.”
Spear Travels (Jetclub Ltd) is an independent travel agency established in 1983 and celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
It now has eight branches in Stoke, Wolverhampton, Upminster and across North Yorkshire as well as a nationwide network of Local Travel Consultants who work from home.
