IPW13: Orlando revamps agent training tool

Orlando has relaunched its agent training programme, as it announced record visitor numbers for 2012.

The destination welcomed 57 million visitors in 2012, up from 55.1 million in 2011, with international markets credited for driving the growth.

The enhanced online training tool, at orlandotravelacademy.com, features updated content and interavity.

And agents who have completed previous versions are being urged to return and update their knowledge.

Danielle Courtenay, chief marketing officer for Visit Orlando, said: “Travel agents play an important role in selling Orlando and helping travellers get the most fun, memories and value out of their visit.

“The updated Orlando Travel Academy uses full audio commentary to bring the destination to life in a dynamic way and provides new and helpful information even for those that may have completed a previous version of the programme.”

Around $5 billion of investment is currently underway in the central Florida area around Orlando, including refurbishments and new developments at Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort and Seaworld.
