School’s out for skiing in hypermarket

HOLIDAY Hypermarkets are proving to be a popular draw – schoolkids included.

Gone are the days when the little scallywags used to pinch sweets from the local shop after school or pinch girls on the way home.

The extra curriculular activities these days involve congregating in the all-singing, all-dancing agencies.

The reason, Backchat learned during a visit to the hypermarket in Croydon, is the ski simulator, one of its many interactive features.

It seems kids pile in and take turns to use the arcade-style video which tests the ability of skiers. Branch manager Jane Barter has taken to the tried and tested clip-round-the-ear approach.

“I keep telling them this isn’t a theme park and just sling them out if customers are waiting to use it,” she said frankly.

No room for negotiation with Ms Barter then?
