STA Travel is to publish its first dedicated global rail brochure this summer.
The move follows UK-based global rail specialist International Rail being appointed to handle rail enquiries and transactions across the globe.
The partnership will allow the youth travel company to sell rail across 65 countries and transactions to be undertaken in five currencies.
The move follows a year-long study into upcoming markets and opportunities across the globe. The research indicated that rail travel was becoming increasingly popular to STA customers and would continue to grow across the world.
Chief commercial officer Paul Maine said: “International Rail Ltd stand out within the rail industry as they are the only company we identified which offers the spread of rail providers we were looking for.
“They have specifically built a multi-channel distribution system for us, allowing easy and convenient booking of rail online, through retail and by our agency partners across the world.”
Rod Maton, chairman of International Rail, said STA will have access to a system which allows rail bookings across a diversity of countries.
“We have been working within rail for over two decades and know there is no experience like a train journey as a way to discover a new country,” he said.
