Norwegian Air reports record July numbers

Scandinavian budget carrier Norwegian Air has reported record carryings of more than 2 million in July.

The figure of 2.1 million was 17% higher than the same month last year.

The improved traffic figures came despite exceptionally good July weather in the Nordic region contributing to less demand for travel to the Mediterranean.

Chief executive Bjørn Kjos said: “I am pleased with this month’s traffic results. We continue to report good figures in our established markets; in addition, the response on routes out of our new European bases and on our long-haul operation has been very well received.

“The fact that more than two million passengers have chosen Norwegian in July proves that high quality at a low fare is appreciated.”

The carrier operated 99.9% of its scheduled flights in July, with 85.4% departing on time.
