Olympic Park attraction the ArcelorMittal Orbit has been launched through the trade ahead of opening next year.

The 114.5 metre high attraction is reopening in April 2014 and will be sold through tour operators in the near future.

Vicky Martin, general manager of the Orbit, said representatives from the trade had been invited to a launch event earlier this week, ahead of WTM.

She said: “We welcomed about 35 tour operators to the Orbit. They came to see the views and to hear what we were looking to achieve here.

“We are now arranging one-to-ones with tour operators interested in selling tickets for the ArcelorMittal Orbit. We are looking to work with as many tour operators as possible.

“Those that do work with us will get access to a web portal and online booking facilities

“We will be offering commission and the commission structure will be worked out when we decide which operators we are working with.”

Martin said her team were currently looking at ways to make the inside of the sculpture more interactive and were to host a focus group.

Tickets are to go on sale to trade soon and to the public from January. Full price tickets are £15, tickets for children (aged three- 16) will cost £7.

The structure will host a series of events such as business breakfasts, art exhibitions, corporate events and award ceremonies. It will also be available as a wedding venue.
