Sandals targets conference market

CARIBBEAN all-inclusive specialist Sandals Resorts has opened a conference centre at its Royal Bahaman Resort in the Bahamas.

The company wants to increase its share of the growing conference and incentive market. The centre covers 11,500 sq ft of conference space, divided into different sized rooms.

The largest area is the Balmoral Ballroom, which can accommodate 1,000 people in a theatre-style auditorium. The room can be divided into three rooms for smaller functions. Other options include a 160-capacity Crystal Room or executive boardroom for 20 people.

The conference facilities include a dedicated business centre featuring three work stations with PCs, Internet port for laptops, fax machine and copier.

Staff at the resort will tailor-make menus according to requirements made by meetings planners.

Sandals chairman Butch Stewart said:”More and more business travellers are combining work with their personal vacation time. Because of this trend they are seeking meetings and incentive locations that offer not only leading-edge business facilities but that impress clients with fabulous resort amenities like well appointed suites and spa services.”
