Holiday Hypermarket to rely on video link for staff training

HOLIDAY Hypermarkets is developing a revolutionary system that will use a video link to train travel agency staff.

Tour operator representatives will no longer need to visit each shop individually for product training sessions but will instead use the video link.

Holiday Hypermarket managing director John Donnelly said the video link will benefit both the agency and operators.

“The operator will be sitting in their offices hundreds of miles away taking staff through their product,” he said. “We have special training rooms set aside where the video link will be installed. It will be designed in such a way that an operator can ask questions and staff will respond through touch-screen technology.

“Not only will it enable our staff to be trained at the same time, the operator will not have to send sales teams to each individual shop.”

The chain opened its latest shop, in Northampton, last week bringing the number of branches to 12. It aims to have 26 open by the end of the year.

The group is also working on a plan to develop its Walsall shop, which acted as Holiday Hypermarkets’ prototype.

“Walsall was our first shop,” said Donnelly. “Once complete it will be our biggest shop.”
