Cityflyer MD pledges to cut the vapour trail

CITYFLYER managing director, and shareholder, Brad Burgess has two reasons to thank the Government for improving his finances – and health.

Firstly, he stands to make a tidy packet when the sale of his airline to British Airways finally goes through.

And secondly, his long-term goal of giving up smoking is very close to being achieved.

Brad pledged several months ago to give up the evil tar-sticks if the deal with BA was agreed.

Well, this is very close to happening if Brad and BA agree to the little matter of minor slot restrictions at Gatwick.

He admits to being hooked for most of his life and hovering around the 40-a-day mark in recent years.

“I said last November, that once the deal was completed I would chuck them in,” said Brad.

“The problem was that I knew that I should stop, but I would not have had the right mental attitude if the deal didn’t go through.”

His mental attitude is definitely right now and Brad should have kicked the expensive habit by next month.

So Cityflyer staff, remember to treat your boss kindly over the next few weeks as he comes to terms with the rigours of a smoke-free life.
