Niggles are not a giggle

We are first time correspondents to your Letters page and write of niggles that are really getting us down now.

When will tour operators/tourist boards realise that by promoting the same place by two different names (ie. Zante and Zakynthos) not only confuses the customer, but also trainee staff!

Why doesn’t ABTAmake it a rule that all flight-only companies, when sending out tickets, have to send out a full itinerary as well? We’ve asked Hamilton Travel about this but it just advised us that “we can’t as it would just take us hours to do as we issue thousands of tickets.”We will now use this feeble excuse with our clients.

Educationals! Why does the following seem to apply? Unless you work in one of the big cities you don’t stand a chance – many rich people live in the sticks!

We think educationals are meant to improve sales staff knowledge – so why is it that often when we pick up the trade papers we see directors and head office-type staff beaming at us from the Maldives but too few actual ‘young’ sales staff – the people who would maximise the opportunity!

Thank you for listening to our moans.
